Detailed Itinerary

Day 1 | Arrival in Bolzano

Meet the group in Bolzano, the capital of South Tyrol. Nestled between the Alps and the northern Italian plains, Bolzano serves as one of the main gateways to the Dolomites. Influenced by centuries of Tyrolean heritage, the city still maintains a unique blend of Italian and Austrian culture, where both German and Italian are commonly spoken.

Upon arrival, meet your guide and fellow travelers before checking into a local hotel. In the evening, enjoy a leisurely stroll through the historic center and take in your first views of the surrounding mountains as they emerge on the horizon.

Accommodation: Hotel in Bolzano
Meals: Not included

Day 2 | Warm-Up Hike in Val di Funes – St. Magdalena & Odle Peaks

After breakfast, transfer to Val di Funes, one of the most iconic valleys in the Dolomites. Rolling meadows, traditional farmhouses, and dramatic limestone peaks combine to create one of the region’s most recognizable alpine landscapes.

Today's gentle hike takes you through forests, pastures, and charming Tyrolean villages, making it an ideal introduction to the mountains. Along the way, you'll visit the famous St. Magdalena Church, set against the spectacular backdrop of the Odle (Geisler) Mountains—a view often featured on postcards and travel magazines.

The trail also passes traditional wooden farms, hay fields, and mountain pastures, offering a glimpse into the timeless rural lifestyle of South Tyrol.

Hiking: 4–5 hours | +350m / -350m | Approx. 9 km
Accommodation: Hotel in Ortisei
Meals: Breakfast & packed lunch included; dinner not included

Day 3 | Seceda Ridge Hike

After breakfast, take the cable car from Ortisei to the spectacular Seceda Plateau, home to one of the most iconic ridge lines in the Dolomites.

Towering limestone cliffs rise dramatically from alpine meadows, creating one of the most photographed landscapes in the Alps. Today's route follows a clockwise loop along the famous Seceda ridge, traversing cliffside paths, alpine pastures, and mountain meadows.

Along the way, enjoy panoramic views of the Odle Mountains, Val Gardena, and many of the surrounding Dolomite peaks. Several sections feature steeper terrain and longer descents, adding variety and a more authentic mountain trekking experience.

Instead of taking the cable car back down, we descend on foot all the way to Ortisei, experiencing the transition from rugged alpine terrain to forests and traditional mountain villages.

Hiking: 6–7 hours | +400m / -1,200m | Approx. 13–14 km
Accommodation: Hotel in Ortisei

Day 4 | Alpe di Siusi Hike

After breakfast, ascend by cable car from Ortisei and pass through the forests of Mont Seuc before reaching the vast alpine meadows of Alpe di Siusi (Seiser Alm).

As Europe’s largest high-altitude alpine meadow, Alpe di Siusi offers a completely different atmosphere from the dramatic cliffs of Seceda. Gentle rolling grasslands stretch across the plateau, dotted with mountain huts, grazing pastures, and vibrant wildflowers during the summer months.

From the trail, enjoy sweeping views of iconic peaks such as Sassolungo and Schlern (Sciliar). The combination of open meadows, alpine farms, and mountain scenery creates a classic postcard-perfect Alpine landscape.

After exploring the plateau, we descend on foot to the valley below.

Day 5 | Passo Sella Hike & Lago di Braies

Depart Ortisei in the morning and drive approximately 30–40 minutes to Passo Sella, located beneath the imposing Sassolungo massif.

Today's hike follows alpine trails through mountain meadows and rocky terrain, with route options adapted to the group's fitness level. The trail features moderate elevation gain and sustained mountain walking, making it one of the more active days of the trip.

After completing the hike, we descend and drive through the Dolomites toward the stunning Lago di Braies, often considered one of the most beautiful lakes in Italy.

Upon arrival, enjoy a leisurely lakeside walk and time for photography before continuing to our hotel near Lake Misurina.

Day 6 | Tre Cime di Lavaredo Loop

Starting from Lake Misurina, we take local transportation to Rifugio Auronzo, the gateway to the most iconic hiking route in the Dolomites—the Tre Cime di Lavaredo Loop.

Known as the symbol of the Dolomites, the Three Peaks rise dramatically above the surrounding plateau. Throughout the hike, changing perspectives reveal new views of the towering limestone spires, glacial cirques, alpine meadows, and rugged mountain walls.

This classic route offers some of the most spectacular scenery in the entire mountain range.

Five massive limestone towers rise from the alpine landscape like natural sculptures, creating one of the most distinctive geological formations in the Dolomites.

The trail climbs steadily into the high alpine zone, offering increasingly expansive views of surrounding peaks including Tofana, Nuvolau, and Averau. The route traverses meadows, rocky terraces, and ridgelines, combining exceptional scenery with fascinating geological features.

Cinque Torri is also an important World War I historical site. Along the trail, you'll encounter preserved trenches, tunnels, military shelters, and observation posts, offering insight into the region's wartime history.

After completing the circuit, we descend back to the valley.

The trail gradually ascends through forests, rocky slopes, and alpine terrain. Some sections are narrow and require careful footing, but the reward is well worth the effort.
