Chamonix in winter, the snow fell, the town overnight turned into the most beautiful appearance, silver, as far as the eye can see, this is nature's greatest gift to the Alps.


Chamonix has a naturally excellent geographical advantage, if it is a hiking mecca in the summer, it is a skiing paradise in the winter. The following is the latest and greatest ski tips for Chamonix 2019!


Chamonix

The world-famous Chamonix Valley in France is located at the foot of Mont Blanc, Europe's highest mountain and a World Heritage Site, as well as being the birthplace of modern mountaineering and recognised as the originator of alpine skiing resorts.



Chamonix's recent skiing history can be traced back to 1924, when the first Winter Olympic Games were held here. Every winter, the Mont Blanc mountains are covered in snow, creating several natural snowfields, and the skiing season extends until April of the following year, attracting outdoor sports enthusiasts from all over the world.



There are a total of nine snowfields in Chamonix:

  • Grands Montets, Brévent-Flégère, Balme Vallorcine, Houches: these are the four most frequented;

  • Touchet, Vormaine, Planards, Poya, Savoy, Chosalets: these areas have beginners' runs and are ideal for children and older people.



Domaine des Grands Montets

01. Grands Montets 雪域



A fabulous ski mecca: the Grands Montets ski area is located between 1,235 and 2,800 metres above sea level.



Here you can experience the largest elevation drop in the world and have huge cross-country trails with thick snow to enjoy until May each year.



Grands Montets' park has several HDTV HD cameras installed along the snowy trails to provide you with perfect sports photos.



Latest Practical Information:

  • Partially open at weekends from 16 November 2019 depending on snow conditions

  • Partially open on consecutive days from 2 December depending on snow conditions

  • Closes on 3 May 2020

  • Daily opening hours: 09:00-16:45

  • After February 2020: 08:00-17:45



Domaine des Houches

02. 莱苏式雪域



The Les Houches snowpark is at an altitude of 1,000 to 1,900m and offers a 360-degree panoramic view of the Mont Blanc region from the top of the resort.



It is a popular venue for international races and a training ground for the French ski team. At the ski school, you can even learn all kinds of skiing: alpine skiing, cross-country skiing, surfing, ski jumping.



It boasts 4 black tracks, including the World Cup speedway track " La Verte des Houches ", 13 red tracks and 8 blue tracks.

  • Partially open at weekends from 16 November 2019 depending on snow conditions

  • Continuous partial opening from 7 December depending on snow conditions

  • Closed on 13 April 2020

  • Adults 4h: 40,50€ / Adults day pass: 45€ / Adults 6 days: 225€

  • Children 4h: 34,40€ / Children's Day: 38,30€ / Children's 6 days: 191.30€

  • Children under 5 years old are free of charge

  • Children aged 5-14 years old are entitled to the children's ticket price

Domaine du Brévent

03. Brévent雪域



Located in the southern region of Chamonix, 3 kilometres from Chamonix, the Brévent snow park is suitable for all levels of skiers.



The neighbourhood of the snowfields boasts a number of towering snowy peaks, where you can enjoy unrivalled panoramic views of the roofs of Europe and the surrounding peaks.

  • Closes on 19 April 2020

  • Children under 5 years old are free


Domaine de Balme-Flégère

04. Balme-Flégère 雪域



The Balme snowfields form a variety of pistes on two slopes in the alpine pastures of the village of Tours on the route of the Tour du Mont Blanc trek.



In the Charamillon region, enjoy wide trails facing towards the Chamonix valley, while the Vallorcine zone allows you to ski in the fir trees on the edge of the Swiss border.

Valleé Blanche

05. 梦幻雪道 - Valleé Blanche



Below the South Needle lies Chamonix's most famous ski run, the Valleé Blanche. It is in fact a wild trail created by alpine skiers, with a total length of about 23 kilometres.



This fantastic trail attracts mountaineering and extreme skiing enthusiasts from all over the world, provided of course that they have a high level of fitness and skiing skills to back them up.



Arguably one of the most beautiful French snowfields, Chamonix is rich in snow and ice, surrounded by mountains, and wherever you go, you can see rolling snow-capped mountains all around you.
